Leaving San Diego was certainly a bitter sweet. Its the start of our adventures, but also the feeling of leaving family and friends behind. There were just over 100 boats leaving together with a group called the Baja Haha. Destination, Cabo San Lucas Mexico. There were 2 stops along the way, and leaving with a group of boats gave us a date to leave (otherwise we would have never left with all the projects on the boat left to do), and the safety in numbers for a ~800 mile sail. It was a slow start as there was little wind. But soon we were flying our spinnaker and moving along at 8-10 knots in the water. The first leg took us to Turtle Bay (aka Bahia Tortugas) Mexico, which took about 2 full days.

The start of the Haha was on the north end of San Diego Bay, so we motored up in the morning to the start line. Kat was still on board from helping in the previous days, so she rode to the start line with us. Eventually we had to drop her, but she almost became a stowaway.
